We arrived at White Bay cruise terminal around 1am in the rain. We had nine pieces of luggage of which we checked in 5. That left four very heavy bags for us to carry on board. The checkin process was painless and we were on the ship in no time. We were sidelined to the grog table to pay our wine corkage at $15 per bottle which we were expecting before boarding.
Once on board we headed for lunch then unpacked our bags and arranged our cabin which will be home for the next 10 weeks.
The safety drill was at 5.30. The new procedure does not require you to take your life jacket to the demonstration which is a welcome change.
The engines started and we were on our way at the scheduled time at 6pm. The rain was torrential so we headed to the Promenade deck that provided adequate shelter for us to view the lights at Circular Quay and the Opera House which were all part of the Vivid Festival.
Once past the Opera House we headed to dinner and then retired to our cabin to finalise our unpacking.
Tomorrow is our first sea day and a day of rest!
